Dumplings én China – “Snowflakes in March” (Video)

With his new album Little Flat In Munich set to release next week, Crown Heights’ weejun wearing lo-fi craftsman Dumplings én China drops off a visual for the Rhoda-produced track “Snowflakes in March.” Filmed during a family trip to Borgonovo, Italy in 2013, the video shows Dumplings’ father listening to his late sister-in-law recite a poem in Genovese. This was Colombo’s first trip back to Italy since he moved away 30 years prior. When paired to the music, it’s as if Dumplings’ late father, who passed away 8 months following his visit to Italy, is listening to the song for the first time, reacting to his sons words of heartbreak and loss.
Little Flat In Munich represents new territory for Dumplings én China and is more personal than his previous work. What was once cartoons and cereal has been replaced with gritty realism influenced by death and infidelity. At its core, “Snowflakes in March” is a letter to an unfaithful ex and the fact that the artist looking to his father for guidance and support can only be done through video editing is a testament to the tragic reality that inspired this music.

Candidt – “We Won” (prod. by 10.4 ROG)

New single from Seattle rapper Candidt.

Candidt – a Seattle rapper who makes up 1/3rd of Th3rdz (alongside JFK of Grayskul & Xperience) – pairs up with Seattle producer 10.4 ROG to bring you an eccentric, grimy, boom bap feel for “We Won.”  Kevin Capp of the Seattle Weekly describes the tune as “Jumping into the political arena with lyrics delivered in his own inimitable flow, punchy cadences and West coast flair, dig the jazzy drums and the otherworldly vibe. The revolution will be televised… in a spaceship!”
“We Won” is the first offering from Candidt’s upcoming Homie Handshake album, due out July 4th, 2016. The album features collaborations with Nacho Picasso, Tay Sean, Brotha Brown and production from Bruce Wayne, Kuddie Fresh, Vitamin D and more.
